Who Is the Little Boy in Chanel Fashion Shows?

If you’ve ever watched a Chanel fashion show, you may have noticed a little boy walking hand-in-hand with Karl Lagerfeld or Virginie Viard at the end of the runway. This little boy is none other than Hudson Kroenig, son of model Brad Kroenig and godson of Lagerfeld himself.

The Beginning of Hudson’s Career

Hudson made his first appearance on the Chanel runway at the age of two, in 2011. Since then, he has become a regular feature in their shows, often wearing mini versions of the adult looks.

Despite his young age, Hudson takes his job very seriously. In an interview with Vogue, Brad Kroenig revealed that his son practices walking down runways at home and even critiques his own performances.

Why Does Hudson Walk in Chanel Shows?

Hudson’s role in Chanel shows goes beyond just being a cute addition to the runway. According to Lagerfeld, Hudson represents the future generation of Chanel customers.

In an interview with The Cut, Lagerfeld said: “It’s never too early to care about fashion… He has it in his genes. He is beyond cute — he is a very smart little boy.”

Plus, having a child walk in their shows adds an element of playfulness and whimsy to the otherwise serious world of high fashion.

Hudson’s Other Accomplishments

Aside from his appearances on the Chanel runway, Hudson has also modeled for brands such as Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana. In 2019, he even designed a limited edition teddy bear for Steiff x Karl Lagerfeld collection.

Outside of modeling and fashion design, Hudson enjoys playing sports such as soccer and golf. He also takes French lessons to improve his language skills for when he travels to Paris for fashion week.

The Future of Hudson’s Career

At ten years old, Hudson still has a long modeling career ahead of him. However, his father Brad has stated that he wants Hudson to have a normal childhood and not be solely focused on fashion.

Only time will tell what the future holds for this mini fashion icon. But for now, we can look forward to seeing him walk hand-in-hand with the creative director at future Chanel shows.
