When it comes to creating dazzling and eye-catching projects with your Cricut machine, glitter vinyl is one of the best materials you can use. Glitter vinyl adds a bit of sparkle and pizzazz to almost any project, from wall decals to t-shirt designs. But before you can start cutting, you need to know what setting to use on your Cricut machine for glitter vinyl.
First, you will want to make sure that your Cricut blade is sharp and new so that it can easily cut through the thicker, more durable glitter vinyl. If you’re using a Maker or Explore Air 2 model, set your blade depth to 8 or 9. If you’re using an Explore One or Create model, set your blade depth to 4.
Next, when selecting a material type in Design Space, select “Glitter Vinyl” as the material type. This will tell the Cricut Maker which settings are best for cutting this particular kind of material. Then select “Custom” as the Material Setting.
Once you have selected Custom as your Material Setting for Glitter Vinyl, you will need to adjust the following settings:
- Cutting Pressure: Turn up the pressure until it reaches “4”.
- Blade Type: Select “Deep Cut Blade” from the drop-down menu.
Note: If you’re using an Explore One or Create model, use a Fine Point Blade instead of a Deep Cut Blade.
