Donatella Versace is an Italian fashion designer and the current vice president of the Versace Group. She was born on May 2, 1955, in Reggio Calabria, Italy, to her parents Antonio and Francesca Versace. Donatella inherited a legacy of fashion excellence from her brother Gianni Versace, who founded the iconic Versace brand in 1978.
Gianni Versace – The Creator of a Fashion Empire
Gianni’s passion for fashion started at a young age, and he began working in his mother’s dressmaking business. Donatella also helped the brand to expand into new markets such as Asia and the Middle East by collaborating with celebrities like Lady Gaga and collaborating with H&M in 2011, which brought the Versace brand to a wider audience.
In 2018, Donatella sold a majority stake in Versace to Michael Kors Holdings Limited for $2.12 billion but remained involved with the design of the brand.
