How Do You Iron on a Vinyl Cricut Iron?

Ironing on vinyl is an essential step in creating Cricut projects. Even if the project does not require iron-on vinyl specifically, you may want to add a decorative touch or enhance the look of the project with an iron-on vinyl transfer.

First, make sure you have all the necessary supplies:

  • A Cricut Iron
  • Iron-on vinyl
  • An ironing board
  • Water-soluble marking pen

Instructions:

  1. Prepping Your Iron-On Vinyl:
    Cut out your design from the iron-on vinyl using your Cricut machine. Make sure to mirror your design before cutting so that it will be facing the right direction when you apply it. Peel off the backing paper and discard it.
  2. Positioning Your Design:
    Place your design on top of your project material and position it where you want it. Use a ruler or straight edge if needed to get it properly aligned.
  3. Heat Setting Your Design:
    Set up your ironing board and heat up your Cricut Iron according to the package instructions. Place a thin cloth, such as a piece of cotton fabric, over the design and press firmly with the hot iron for 10 – 15 seconds.
  4. Applying Pressure:
    Take off the thin cloth and use pressure with your fingers or a wooden dowel to firmly press down the design onto the material for 10 – 15 seconds.
