Converting a PNG File to a Cricut
Using a Cricut machine is an easy way to quickly create custom quotes, monograms, and intricate designs with precision and accuracy. But, before you can start cutting your masterpiece, you must first convert your PNG file into the correct format for a Cricut.
To convert your PNG file to a compatible file type for the Cricut, you will need to use Cricut Design Space software. This software is available as an app or on the web.
First open Design Space and select “New Project” from the main menu. Then upload your PNG file into Design Space by selecting “Upload Images” and then “Upload Image” from the left-hand panel.
Once your image is uploaded in Design Space, select “Save as Cut Image” from the right-hand panel. This will open up a window where you can choose whether you want to save your image as a Print & Cut or just Cut image. A Print & Cut image will allow you to print and cut out your design in one step whereas just Cut will only cut out your design without printing it first.
After selecting the type of image you want to save as, click on “Save as” at the bottom of the window and give it a name for reference later on. Your image is now saved as an SVG file which can be used with any Cricut machine. You can now drag and drop this saved SVG file into any project in Design Space for cutting with your Cricut machine.
Conclusion: Converting a PNG File to be compatible with a Cricut machine is easy using Design Space software. Simply upload your PNG file into Design Space, save it as either a Print & Cut or just Cut image, then drag and drop it into any project in Design Space for cutting with your Cricut machine!
