How Do You Cut the HTV on a Silhouette Cameo?

Cutting heat transfer vinyl, or HTV, with a Silhouette Cameo is an easy process that can be done by anyone. With the right supplies, you can create custom designs for clothing, bags, and more. Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Gather Supplies. First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. You’ll need some heat transfer vinyl in your chosen color and pattern, scissors, a weeding tool, a fresh blade for your Silhouette Cameo machine and some iron-on transfer paper.

Step 2: Design Your Image. Before you can cut your HTV with the machine, you’ll need to design your image in the Silhouette Studio software. Once you’ve designed your image, save it to the library.

Step 3: Load the Vinyl Into The Machine. Next, load the vinyl into the machine.

Make sure that it is loaded with the shiny side down and centered on the cutting mat. Use masking tape to secure it in place if needed.

Step 4: Adjust Settings In The Software. Once the vinyl is loaded into machine, open up your saved design in the Silhouette Studio software and click “Send” at the top of the screen.

On the next screen there will be an option for “Material Type” – select “Heat Transfer Vinyl” from this list. This will automatically adjust all of the settings so that they are optimized for HTV cutting.
