The murder of Gianni Versace continues to captivate the attention of people around the world. The famous fashion designer was shot dead on July 15, 1997, outside his mansion in Miami Beach, Florida. His killer, Andrew Cunanan, committed suicide just days later.

In 2018, the FX network aired “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” a limited television series that explored the events leading up to and following Versace’s murder. The show starred Edgar Ramirez as Gianni Versace, Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, and Ricky Martin as Antonio D’Amico.

The series was based on Maureen Orth’s book “Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History.”

It received critical acclaim for its performances and storytelling. However, it wasn’t a movie but rather an eight-episode show.

Another film titled ‘Versace’ is set to release in 2021, which will be directed by actor and filmmaker Gia Coppola. The movie will be based on Deborah Ball’s book, “House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival.”
